Where Might We Find Ecologically Intact Communities?

چکیده
Conservation efforts should target the few remaining areas of world that represent outstanding examples ecological integrity and aim to restore a much broader area with intact habitat minimal species loss while this is still possible. There have been many assessments “intactness” in recent years but most these use measures anthropogenic impact at site, rather than faunal intactness or integrity. This paper makes first assessment for global terrestrial land surface assesses how ecoregions sites could qualify as Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs – contributing significantly persistence biodiversity) based on their (under KBA Criterion C). Three datasets are combined create new spatially explicit map numbers extirpated. Based it estimated no more 2.9% can be considered faunally intact. Additionally, using habitat/density distribution data 15 large mammals we also make an initial where mammal densities reduced, showing further decrease 2.8% functionally Only 11% were identified included within existing protected areas, only 4% KBAs triggered by other criteria. Our findings show number C potentially increase up 20% if composition was restored reintroduction 1–5 species. Hence, all necessary requirements met order reintroduce regain integrity, will across human impacts low (human footprint ≤4). Focusing restoration planet full

Collective Creativity: Where we are and where we might go
Creativity is individual, and it is social. The social aspects of creativity have become of increasing interest as systems have emerged that mobilize large numbers of people to engage in creative tasks. We examine research related to collective intelligence and differentiate work on collective creativity from other collective activities by analyzing systems with respect to the tasks that are pe...

Unless we challenge long-held assumptions about how business leaders are supposed to act and where they're supposed to come from, many people who could become effective global leaders will remain invisible, warns Harvard Business School professor Hill. Instead of assuming that leaders must exhibit take-charge behavior, broaden the definition of leadership to include creating a context in which ...

213 There has been intense debate nowadays on what surgical procedures a speciality must do or must not do, particularly among dermatosurgeons, plastic surgeons, oculoplastic and maxillofacial surgeons. Now, dentists and gynaecologists have jumped the fray with each specialist treading on another's toes. Should dermatosurgeons do blepharoplasty or leave it to the oculoplastic surgeon, should pl...
متن کاملHow Much Hydrothermal Hydrogen Might We Find in Enceladus’ Plume?
Introduction: Geochemical [1,2] and geophysical [3,4] data obtained by the Cassini spacecraft strongly suggest the existence of a liquid water ocean [5] in contact with a rocky core on Saturn’s satellite Enceladus. This leads to the possibility of hydrothermal activity that could support life [6]. Indeed, it has been proposed that there are hydrothermal vents inside Enceladus to explain the for...

When walking begins, the resistance in the deep femoral vascular bed decreases and Qdf increases (active hyperemia). As this occurs, Qt falls precipitously. Although the calf muscle is also contracting, it is un...
